Run every August since 2016 in memory of Warrior co-founder David A. Andersen, the Memorial Walleye Shootout is a two-person team tournament on Lake of the Woods, fished as part of the Warrior Rally weekend. 2026 is the 11th Annual.
Format
- Two-person teams, fished in a single day on Saturday, August 15.
- Two flights, both on the Saturday: first flight due back at 3:45 pm, second at 4:00 pm.
- Boat check 5:00 to 6:45 am at the Rainy River public launch. If you are not in line by 6:45 you will not be inspected until after takeoff.
- National anthem at 7:00 am, boat parade down river, blast off at 7:15 am.
- Awards and the champion announced at 7:30 pm Saturday at The Tent, Wigwam Resort, with interviews from the top three teams.
Before you fish
Mandatory check-in is Friday, August 14, from 3:00 to 5:30 pm at The Tent, closing 5:30 sharp. At least one team member has to check in to pick up shirts and a boat number. The group photo follows at 5:45 pm, then the rules meeting at 6:00 pm, which one member of every team must attend.
